Charles A. Cola, Class of '73 City of Yonkers Police Commissioner 2000-2003.
Charles Cola was a member of the NYC Transit Police and Yonkers Police Departments from 1981 to 2003. After starting in patrol he worked In the Street Crime Unit and Detective Division and was elected President of the Yonkers Police Benevolent Association in 1993 and held that position for seven years. In April of 2000 Cola was appointed Yonkers Police Commissioner by Mayor John Spencer and served until 2003. Cola guided the department through the NYS Police Accreditation process, created a domestic violence unit, harbor unit and oversaw record crime reduction. Cola hold a Bachelors Degree in Organizational Management from Manhattan College and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Marist College. During his career in law enforcement he received eleven certificates of excellent police work and two accommodations for Bravery and a Gannet Macy Award, along with numerous community and organizational awards. Upon retirement from YPD Cola joined Empire City Casino and is employed as Director of Security. Cola is married to Teresa and has two sons, Charles IV and Timothy and lives in Yonkers.
